Euclid's Formulation

Similar plane numbers have to one another the ratio which (some) square number (has) to a(nother) square number.

• Let $A$ and $B$ be similar plane numbers.
• I say that $A$ has to $B$ the ratio which (some) square number (has) to a(nother) square number.
