Proposition: Multiplying Negative and Positive Integers
The multiplication of negative and positive integers follows the following rules:
- A positive integer times a positive integer gives a positive integer, symbolically
\[( + )\cdot ( + )=( + )\]
- A negative integer times a positive integer gives a negative integer.
\[( - )\cdot ( + )=( - )\]
- A negative integer times a negative integer gives a positive integer.
\[( - )\cdot ( - )=( + )\]
- Zero times any integer gives zero.
\[( 0 )\cdot ( \pm )=( 0 )\]
