Section: Solving Simple Systems of Linear Equations

Some SLEs have a particularly simple form, which can be solved immediately. In the following examples, we will study these simple forms and their solutions. These examples will also point us the direction to find general methods to solve any given SLE and motivate further definitions to follow.

Examples: 1 2 3

  1. Definition: Solution to an Upper Triangular SLE - Backward Substitution
  2. Definition: Solution to a Lower Triangular SLE - Forward Substitution
